Tess Anderson, APRN, PMHNP-BC

About Tess

Tess Anderson is a board-certified child, adolescent, and adult Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Tess provides medication management to children, adolescents and young adults. In addition, she is one of a rare group of nurse practitioners who are also skilled in psychotherapy, namely Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT). She completed Adolescent DBT Foundational Training with Dr. Alec Miller of Behavioral Tech. She trained in CBT with Dr. Wendy Silverman. Moreover, Tess trained in Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE) under the treatment developer, Dr. Eli Lebowitz of Yale University.

Tess completed clinical training at Four Winds Hospital in Katonah, New York. There, she provided psychiatric services including evaluation and medication management for children in a psychiatric inpatient hospital. In her previous role as psychiatric nurse at NFI Evolutions, an intensive residential treatment program in Massachusetts, Tess provided medication management to adolescents to treat anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), psychotic disorders, and emerging borderline personality disorder (BPD).

Tess earned her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree at Yale University. She completed her initial clinical rotations at West Haven Mental Health Clinic, where she provided individual CBT and trauma-focused CBT to underserved adolescents and young adults with symptoms of anxiety, depression, and PTSD.

Tess received her B.A. in Psychology from Gettysburg College. Following her undergraduate education, Tess moved in research, joining the Anxiety and Mood Disorders Program at the Yale Child Study Center. In that program, she conducted clinical evaluations of children suffering from symptoms of anxiety.

In her role at Stratus Mental Health Center, Tess is dedicated to providing a holistic and coordinated treatment approach that is tailored to fit the comprehensive needs of children and families.
